YORKSHIRE STRUGGLE HARD
FOR RUNS IN THE
BATTLE OF THE ROSES

Yorkshire had to struggie hard for runs in their "Roses" match against Lancashire which began at Old Trafford, Manchester, today.
After Len Hutton, the England opening but, had been dismissed for one run, Lowson and Halliday retrieved the position with some steady batting. But it was Wilson and Wardle, with scores of 79 and 64 respectively, who enabled Yorkshire to reach a total of 313.
