Both reached the final stage and the right to play at Wembley Stadium, London by two-one victories in semi-final replays. Another coincidence is that not one goal was scored in the first meetings of New- castle and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the other pair, Blackpool and Birmingham.
It is 39 years since both semi-finals were drawn and, strangely enough, both results in 1912 were also all-nil.
