London, Mar. 12.
British tin circles were not tinday surprise Wall Street
by the Washington announcement, today that the United States Government was to become the sple importer and seller of tin.
"After the recent attack on tin producers by the United States Senate Preparednese Sub- Committee and the decision last week to stop the stockpiling of tin, the latest move was régarðéð as logical.
The main feeling in London was one of disappointment that the United States should take major decisions on tin as a com- modity Immediately before the International Conference on the metal, due to open in Washing- ten on Wednesday,
It was felt that the United States had hardly helped to obtain the right atmosphere for the conference by taking impor- tant decisions and making slate- ments which were bound to cause resentment and contro- verty.

Understanding between nations and peoples, fostered by the bonds of industry and commerce-the necessary flow of goods that keeps the wheela turning all over the world is basic to peace.
It is our fervent hope-one which we believe is almost universally shared. -that the statesmen on both sides of any and all existing disputes and misunderstandings will get together and set things to rights. We still hold to the view that mutual trade does most to promote friendship and understanding between nations and peoples, and that we, as business men, should argue that point wherever and whenever we can:- Isbrandtsen
