The United Nations Economic and Social Council today agreed to broaden the duties and mom- borship of the Economic and Employment Commission to place grootor stress on the cconomic development under-developed countries.
The Council adopted a resolution based on a joint proposal by the United States and Chile which recognises that "problems of economic devel- opment of under-developed countries, parti- cularly that of financing such development, should receive increased and continuing at- tention."

The resolution increases the Commission's membership from 15 to 18, changes its name to Economic Employ- ment and Development Com- mission and authorises it to meet twice a year.
