Correspondence
The Editor takes no responsibi lity for views expressed in Letters by correspondents, and by se menna necessarily agrees with them.
DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA Sin-If Mr. Geoffrey 1.C. Shen Intended his letter, "Fourth of July", as satire, I congratulate aims; but if he is so naive as actually to belleve the nonsense he wrote, I aympathise with him. Nowhere else in the world is the word "Democracy" so worked as in the United States;
L
nowhere else in the world Democrație principles more completely ignored. That is my mption, formed through a long- term reading of such magazines "Time". "Newsweek", "The New Yorker", and other none of which could reasonably be galled anti-American; and it has been corroborated by every con- versation I have had with work- ing-elam Americans.
If you publish this, you might say that I have the greatest respect for the American people. K.J.3.
