BRITAIN REPLIES TO FRENCH NOTE ON SCHUMAN PLAN

Paris, May 27.

Britain's reply to Franco's invitation to join negotiations for the setting up of a European coal and steel pool was received at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs this evening. Although there had not been time to study the British reply fully, a French Foreign Ministry spokesman said that it left the same impression as had the earlier offer made by Mr. Ernest Bevin, the British Foreign Secretary, to M. Robert Schuman; the French Foreign Minister, and that there still existed a distinct difference between the views of Lon- don and Paris.
