'Charles Chaplin's latest venture into films, "Mon- sicur Vordoux," now showing at the King's and Liborty, is a beautiful picture about a Frenchman with a tondar heart who murders for commercial purposes.
In less experienced hands it would probably have developed into a commentary on homicide of unpleasant proportions. Mr. Chaplin, how- ever, invests it with a sympathy and tender. ness which almost justifies the crimes com-. mitted.

The funny and heart-warm- ing adventures of one of the screen's most lovable families are continued in Paramount's "Dear Wife," the sequel to "Dear Ruth", which is coming to The Lee Theatre.
Presenting the same starring cast that made its forerunner a comerly hit, "Dear Wife" boasts the talents of William Holden, Joan Caulfield, Billy BeWolfe, Mona Freeman and Edward Ar- nold, Arleen Whelan, Mary Philips and the famed U.S. radio an- nouncer Harry Von Zell are fea- tured.
He attempts to convey the message that the world' owes a certain Frenchman u living; that, If nations murder for the sake of gain, one paltry individual is entitied to do the same. It is 'n paradoxical message diffused with painstaking and loving ten- derbess.
Mr. Chaplin is wrong to adver- ilse the film as hilarious comedy; it is certainly not that. The old Charlie Chaplin is no more; even the name has undergone altera- tion it is Charles, not "Charlie."
