Hints on care of fire extinguishers.
Portable fire extinguishers on premises need fre- quent testing and periodic ` re-charging." Unless the extinguishers are looked after carefully, they may be useless when a fire breaks out.
Here are some notes regarding care and mainten- ance of portable fire extinguishers issued by the Fire Offices Committee Fire Protection Association in London:
Portable fire appliances should not be removed from their 'al- lotted positions. The provision of brackets, shelves or base blocks will help to make it evident when any are missing from their pro-} per places.

The four-power deputies discussing the Austrian Peace Treaty today adjoumed their meeting, which was called by the Soviet delegate, Mr. George Zarubin, without reporting any pro-
