Indonesia currency reform analysed
London, March 19.
Today's Indonesian move is an ingenious currency reform designed to halve the inflated internal circulation of money.
Russia and Germany had similar reforms in Decem-
ber, 1947, and June, 1948, but theirs reduced the circulaton by 9/10ths while the Indonesian change reduces it by half..
Today's move logically follows last week-end's changes whan the Indonesian guildor was da- valued by half for exports and by two-thirds for imports.
