Taipeh, February 7. despotch-érom-Hainan Island said today that Nationalist navad patrols had broken up on attempt by Chinese Communist troops to land on the big Nationalist-held island off the South
China coast.
The despatch, quoting sources at the island capital of Hoihow, said the attempt, was made by 10 junkloods of Red troops on Sunday night. The report could not be confirmed here.
According to the report the Rods tried to go ashore at Paochinkong (Cheongkong) about 70 miles South West of Hoihow. They wore intercepted and scattered by the Nationalist warships, the dospatch said, adding that one boatload of Red troops was captured while the other dscaped.
