A rent increase from 45 per cent to 100 per cent on the standard rent of business premises is proposed in a Bill to be presented to the Legislative Council today for its First Reading.
The Landlord and Tenant Ordinance permitted a 45 per cent increase on the standard tent of business premises and a 30 per cent in- nerease or the standard rent of domestic pre-
mises.
The new Bill does not contain any proposals for increase in the standard rents of domestic premises!
The Bill states that the addi-! tion to the standard rent af busi- cess premises shall, in respect of a subsisting tenancy, take effect as from the date when payment of rent next falls due after the! commencement of the Ordinance.
