The new Contiiton Dam, situated on the Verdon River in the Basses Alpes department of South Eastern France, goes into operation this month. The dam is designed to produce 83,000,- 000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year. It is 200 yards long, 18 yards thick and 100 yards high. (AP Photo).
