LONDON DOCK STRIKE ENDS Airmen In RED SHANGHAI ARMIES
Work To Resume Monday As CSU Dispute Settled ALIEN REDS DEPORTED
London, July 22.
The striking dock workers voted today to end their 25 day old walkout which paralysed the port of London, provoked a major internal battle in the Labour Government and forced the Co- binet to ask for a state of emergency.
A mass meeting of more than 3,000 dockers passed o resolution for the
15,000 strikers to return to work at 7.45 a.m. on Monday. The break came shortly after Britain's Labour government detained two Americans and a Dutch national on charges they were sent to Eng- land as "Communist agents" to block a settlement of the strike.
Conservatives Issue Policy Statement
London, July 22.
Mr. Winston Churchill's Conservative opposition party issued a policy statement tonight in readiness for the next general election in Britain, which must take place not later than July, next year.
The policy statement, contained in a handbook entitled "The right road for Britain," wel- comed the new status of India, Pakistan and Ceylon, called for new steps to strengthen the Commonwealth group of nations, including o Commonwealth tribunal, and new steps to repulse the forces of Communism.
