Village Elder Charged New Splendour Seen

A 75-year-old elder of Taipo Village was charged at Kowloon_yesterday with corruptly offering a bribe to Dr. P. M. van der Linde. Tong Fung-sung, chairman of the Tai Po Chinese Chamber of Commerce, prominent citizen ond village elder, was defended by Mr. C. A. S. Russ, and the prosecution was conduct- ed by Assistant Superintendent of Police J. Moore.
