On their arrival, the fire feh- ters found that the flames had already obtained a strong hold on the wooden buildings and was in danger of spreading to the nearby Asiatic Petroleum Co.'s installation, Splendid work on the part of the firemen, however, confined the fire to the origingi "rea.
With the first alarm of "Fire,” the inmates of the huts made a hurrled cxit, but the majority of them manngedi carry away all their postersion. The glass, brle- quets, soy, and Joss sticks fae-. tories were, however, not so for- tunate and sustained losses to their equipment.
Squalter, huts at Tal „Kok Tsui are seen "going up in flames. The fire. yesterday razed about 200 huts within 75 minutes and resulted in the death of a man and a baby, only a few days Yuen Photo).
