WITH KOREAN DECISION

PERMANENT COMMISSION VOTED

Paris, December 12.

The United Nations General Assembly by an overwhelming vote today do-

cided to set up a Permanent Commission for Korea.

The voting came after a series of speeches from the Soviet countries, voicing bitter opposition to the whole project. Forty-eight notions voted in favour, the six Soviet countries against, and Sweden abstained.

The resolution advocated a Permanent Commission

to replace the former temporary one, with a mandate to work for the unification of Korea and encourage the withdrawal of Allied troops. Soviet Russia, the Ukraine, Byelorussin and Yugoslavia op- posed the resolution.
