MOTORING NEWS AND VIEWS POST-WAR MOTOR SHOW IN UK
UK OPENS ON WEDNESDAY
FIRST
On October 27 Britain's first, post-war motor showi
will be opened at Earl's Court, London. The in- dication is that as in pro-war years it will be the most truly representative and international gathering of motor-cars to be brought together at one place and time. For this reason it will be particularly interesting and instructive for the public who will be seeing the latest products from France, Italy and the United States for the first time owing to the fact that imports into the United Kingdom are ex- tremely restricted.
As is well known in world markets the type and shape of these cars presents a consider. able contrast to the pre-war styling of cars in Britain, and although many engineers have heen painfully conscious of this fact it has been necessary up to now for them to choose between uninterrupted produc- hon and the introduction of new models. During this summ mer the necessary breathing space to effect the etmage-over has been won,
All the big producing com- pantes will have now cars at the show and as may be expected the change in taxation in Britain and the ascent on export sales will have done much to modify the size and type of ear offered. The one-litre (81 cuble inch) ear| will, with one exception, have
