ROLLING MILD STEEL BARS
IN HONG KONG
The Hongkong Chlap Hụa 'Manufactory established first. 1921 in Swatow, opened. Its branch at Hongkong in 1938. In 1941 the Mana- factory had supplied large quantities of Steel Helmets, Gas Masks, etc. and other equipment to the, War Supplies Board. All through the Japan- ese occupation Japanese confiscated the Manu- factory. First factory in the Colony to roll mild. steels bars; completion of the oquipment has taken since 1945, the Manufactory has laboured double-time to achieve the Mild Steel Reinforc- ing Bars Production as may be shown in the pictures below.
After reflosting, the wrecks, steel plates, are piece by piece dismantled
and transported to the Manufactory.
The strips are then put into a large furnace to be heated up to
`certain fixed, temperature.
