REPORT ON CATALINA CRASH
Confirms Theory Of Armed Attack On Crew
RECOMMENDATION BY MR. MOSS
An official report by Mr. A. J. R. Moss, Inspector of Accidents and Director of Civil Aviation, yesterday confirmed the theory that an armed attack on the crew of a Cathay Pacific Air- ways' Catalina' flying boat caused it to crash on July 16 near Macao.
The report added that three bullets and two ex- ploded shell cases were found in the wreck- age of the aircraft. In addition, the Macao police authorities have obtained evidence that the crew of the flying boat were attacked by certain passengers shortly after the plané left Macao on its return flight to Hong Kong. Twenty-six people were killed in the crash, includ- ing Captain D. W. Cramor, pilot, Mr. K. S. McDuff, First Officer, Miss D. da Costa, Flight Hostess, and Mr. R. L. Frost, Traffic Manager of CPA.

The women: cncerned, are wives of the lower income Euro- peans in Hong Kong. Some are wives of Royal Naval officers. Chinese Marine Customs officials and of officers of commercial ves- selv.
Most of them have children. Because of the high hotel rates, some families have not been able to afford more than a single roo each. In some hotels, single rooms, de are shared by two famfics.
