Government Challenges Lords Restoration Of Common Citizenship Demand

British Nationality Bill Russian

To Be Sent Back

London, July 7.

The Government today joined battle with the House of Lords

over the British Nationality Bill by asking the House of Commons to strike out the amendments carried by the House of Lords against the Government last month. The Home Secretary, Mr. James Chuter Edo, said the term "Commonwealth Citizen" could bo justified as an alternative to “British subject" now that India, Pakistan and Coylon were Do- minions within the Commonwealth.
