Mr. Attlee was snapped by the cameraman at a crucial moment during a recent lunch at the South African Club, London. The occasion was an official welcome to the new South African High Commissioner, Leif Ege- land. Mr. Egeland, who succeeds Heaton Nicholls (made a Baron in the New Year Honours List), is of Norwegian origin and speaks several Scandinavian languages.
