Arab riflemen stormed a Jewish machine-gun post in Jerusalem's German colony, starting a new gun battle, as darkness fell tonight after the most savage communal riot so far in Palestine's 30-day "masked civil war."
The machine-gun post was reported to be manned by Haganah, the Jewish defence militia. The colony had been evacuated by the Jews short- ly after the United Nations partition decision late last month, when two Jewish shops were bombed and set on fire.
