Mr. George Marshall, Secretary of State, today presented to a joint meeting of the Senate and House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committees an estimate for his Western Europe aid plan raising by nearly 15 per cent the dollar aid proposed three days ago by Pre- sident Truman's Foreign Aid Committee. Mr. Marshall asked for between $16,000,000,000 and $20,000,000,000 to cover the total four-year instead of the maximum of programme $17,000,000,000 proposed in the report of the Harriman Foreign Aid Committee.
