UNO Committee India's Challenge To Britain On Lord Hall's Statement In Parliament
Cadogan To Make
A Full Statement
Flushing Meadows, N.Y., Apr. 29. India today directly challenged Britain to state whether she would accept any United Nations recommendations on Palestine. The challenge was made in the Steering Committee of the Special General Assembly to consider the Palestine problem.
The committee was sitting for the first time to consider the Assembly's agenda and whether to allow discussion on the Jewish Agency's re- quest for voteless participation in the debate. Also under consideration was whether to allow discussions on the Arab demand for termina- tion of Britain's Palestine mandate.

Sudden Strike In Renault Plant
Paris, Apr. 29.
Thirty thousand workers struck today in France's great nationalized Renault auto plant. The workers want more pay. The strike order was issued by the powerful, Communist-controlled CGT labour organization. A CGT official said it was possible a few crews were still working, but they were expected out shortly.
If the strike continues, it will seriously impede France's reconstruction effort. The Renault factories, which are now State-owned, are pro- ducing daily 90 automobiles, 100 trucks and 12 farm tractors.
