THE CHINA-MAIL: SATUR DAY, DECEMBER 28.-1946.
ASSAULT SUMMONS NEW FAR EAST
Story Of Party At Knight Street
Asked why she had left 4, Knight Street, at 3.30
a.m. to return to her restaurant at 1 Middle- Road, leaving two sergeants from the medical staff of the "Otranto" to sleep in her flat, Mrs. "Bertha Pears told the Magistrate at Kowloon Court yesterday that she had run out of tea, milk and sugar and was going to fetch some for the sergeants' breakfast. Mrs. Pears was giving evidence against Richard William Dedear on a summons for assault. When the hearing continued yesterday morn ing, Mr. Horace Lo said he understood that Dedear had closed his case against Mrs. Pears, whom he also summoned on a charge of as- sault, and he would hear Mrs. Pears' case:
Dedear became a tenant of hers at 4 Knight Street in, July, Mrs.
Fenrs said, Rent was agreed on at $300 a month. There were two other tenants at the time.
As a result of a dispute about the rent, she commenced eviction proceed ings against Dedear before the Tenancy Tribunal.
Beside the dispute with Dedear, she had a dispute also with Miss P, A, M, Harrop over her tenancy.
