It is estimated that 4,000,000 ounces of silver have
been shipped to India during the six weeks. since arbitrage operations between London and Bombay were permitted in Russian silver, writes the Financial Times today.
་
But despite traffic proving materially heavier than anticipated, the trend of the Bombay silver price continues upward. Yesterday's spot. price was 166 Rupees. Though some 10 per cent below the level reached during the bullion scramble last spring, it was still higher than the price ruling at the time arbitrage was re- sumed.

Trade With Sterling Area
(By Sydney Ganipell, Reuters Financial Editor)
London, Sept. 25. One obvious reason why Brazil, like other Latin- American countries, wants to develop more trade with the sterling area is the desire to avoid an exclusive dependence on the United States in general and in particular on the United States trade cycle. as highlighted by Wall Street's slump. (Similarly, in "big three" term, The reason for the Anglo-Argen- Line agreement Argentina's tnowledge that she cannot con- eivably depend on the long term Russian market for her meat or other primary products).
