"Moon Cakes" Out In Their Thousands

The Moon Cake or Mid-Autumn Festival is draw- ing near. On all sides, signs are apparent that the Chinese community. Is busily engaged in preparing for this most important of Chin- ese Festivals, which falls on the 15th day of the 8th Moon cach lunar year.

During the years of the Japanese occupation, the Chinese were not, for various reasons, able to observe this time-honoured festival in the traditional manner. Last year's festival camé too soon after the liberation to permit of any extensive celebrations, but if present indica- tions are any criterion it can safely be said that this year's festivities will be on a most lavish scale and will be the most happiest since 1941.
