Joe Louis, heavyweight boxing champion of the world, and Lou Nova, Signals challenger for the crown that Louis

from James J. Braddock on Kwong Walt June 22, 1937, by a

won

technical knock-out in thej 8th round at Chicago, meet at the Polo Grounds, New York, to-day in world title bout.

The challenger is the only frst grade heavyweight who has. not been knocked-out by the holder, and for view of the fact that-Louis was not as impressive as hitherto when he met Billy Conn last June, the young Californian is conceded a very good chance of wresting the title which has to date, elud- ed challengers such as Max Baer, Max Schmeling. Abe Simon, Billy Conn, Tony Galento, Tommy Farr and Buddy Baer.

This will be the 19th Ume that Louis has defended his title rince June 22, 1937 and the "Brown Bomber" himself admits that Nova is the most formidable of the lot. Nova is "tough, big, can punch and can take it pretty good," Louis concedes.

Against that, however, hose who have seen Louis in training since his fight with Billy Conn, who was leading on points in their fight on June 19 when in the 13th round he decided to "mix it" and so make a fatal mistake - Louis won by the t,k.o, route-admit that the Detroit negro has regained some of the devastating form thut characterised his earlier fights.

Furthermore, Nova, while ad- mittedly a good-fighter and hitter, is the "stand up" type of fighter, the type that Louis likes. On Saturday Louls was a 12 to 5 favourite, but both men are con- fident.
