A.R.P. Tunnel Men Paid On Basis Of Results

HO HOK-PUI, P.W.D. foreman, was again called at the resumed hearing of the A.R.P. Inquiry this morning when he produc- ed books as instructed yesterday, recording the number of workmen engaged by the sub- contractors on the tunnelling job in Kowloon, from September 20, 1940, to date.

Witness told Mr. Justice Cressall, chair- man of the Commission, that although the number of workmen engaged on the differ- ent sites was recorded, there was no entry in the books showing the rate of pay as the men were not paid by the day, but on results.
