Scene Of Indescribable Devastation" Greets Nazis

IT WAS ANNOUNCED in Berlin last night that when the German troops entered Kiev they found "indescribable devastation.” This is a complete contradiction of earlier -statements from Axis sources which said the city had been captured virtually intact and that the Russians' "scorched earth” tactics had not been applied there.
Last night's announcement, issued by the official German news agency, said: "All vital supplies had been removed or blown up and the water and electricity works destroy- ed and put out of action."
