"CEASE FIRE" ORDER WILL TIGHTEN BLOCKADE OF REICH

(By Reuter's Political Correspondent) THE EFFECT OF THE "Cease Fire" in Iran, coupled with the British occupation of Syria and Iraq, have been to make the block- ade of Germany from the point of view of economic warfare tighter than it has ever been.

The decision will also have its effect on the problem of supplies from Britain and the United States reaching Russia.

The question of help to Russia is now being examined by the Ministry of Economic Warfare and already supplies are on the way both from Britain, the Dominions and the United States. In the Unit- ed States supplies already allocated to Britain were diverted to Russia.

It is expected that at an early date a meeting between repre- sentatives of Russia, the United States and Britain will take place in Moscow to decide upon the aid that can be given by Britain and the United States to the So- viet Union.

Meanwhile discussions are already proceeding with the So- viet authorities regarding the £10,000,000 credit granted Britain to Russia.

Germany's Loss

at

The capacity of this railway is about 6000,000 tons a year and before Germany entered the war she received goods across it the rate of 600,000 tons a year.

Another aspect of Germany's attack upon Russla. Is that by it Germany lost 700,000 tona

of all which she received from Russia each year. Although the effect

of this

loss may not be immediate it is! bound to tell in time, especially when combined with the bombing by the Russians of the Rumanian oilfields, the attacks on Con- stanza, the vigilance of the Bri- tish Navy in the eastern Mediter- ranean and the work of the RAF. in western Germany, Reuter.

Mr. Scudder said that many citizens in Bristol (Rhode Island) would like to go further than pro- viding hostels and see their ships convoyed into the Bristol Channel but meanwhile they sent this ex- pression of their sympathy and admiration as an earnest of better things to come.--British Wireless.
