Red Army Unit Fights Way Out Of Encirclement
HOW A RED ARMY UNIT cut off by the enemy fought its way out and inflicted con- siderable loss on the enemy is told in a supple- ment to the Russian communique.
The unit, commanded by Commander Zagordonov, when cut off operated for 20 days in the rear of German troops and forced their way to territory held by the Red Army.
"Preserving their equipment, the Red Army men strove to cause the enemy the greatest possible losses. They mercilessly exter- minated groups of German sold- iers they met. destroyed trans- ports, batteries, truck columns and headquarters and killed 240 Fas- cist soldiers.
