HEAVY R.A.F. ATTACKS

ON ITALIANS NORTH AFRICA

HEAVY R.A.F. ATTACKS on Italian aerodromes in Greece and Sicily, as well as Libya, figure in the latest R.A.F. Middle East communique, issued in Cairo yesterday.

The communique says that during Satur- day night our bombers attacked several enemy targets in North Africa. There were large fires accompanied by violent explosions and flying debris at Tripoli, where the dock area was raided.

Fires in the neighbourhood of the power house were visible for

a considerable distance from the HAWKER PROBLEM target.

Bardia was attacked by an R.A.F. bomber formation and also by Fleet Air Arm aircraft.

Blenheims obtained hits on a motor transport yard causing ex- plosions and a number of fres. Fleet Air Arm 'planes made a ser- ies of dive attacks and started a

number of fires.

Raid On Greece

Heavy bombers also attacked the port of Benghazi where ex- plosions were seen on rallway sidings, and

Derna, the port of where fires followed the attack.

In Greece heavy bombers at- tacked the aerodrome at Eleusis, E'arting a fire which is believed to have destroyed a number of; aircraft.

In Sicily our bombers dropped bombs on the harbour at Catania on Friday. A 2,000-tons motor vessel at the quayside was damag- ed by bombs on and near it.

From all these operations our aircraft returned safely.----Reuter.

FORGED PERMITS

Four Chinese who ar- rived here from Macao on Saturday have been de- tained for possession of forged Immigration per- mits, the "China Mail" learned from Mr. J. H. B. Lee, the Immigration Officer.

Mr. Lee disclosed that a number of forged Immigration permits have been discovered recently among passengers arriving from Macao.

The authorities have been in- vestigating and will probably re- quest the Macao police to cooper- ate.

Persons discovered with forged permits are questioned and sent back to Macao by the Immigration

An Admiralty com- munique issued in London last evening announced the loss of a British destroyer.
