JAPAN BEGINS TO "MOVE IN" Vichy Hands Over "Defence”

Old Line Now Reported Crossed At Six Points

(SPECIAL TO "CHINA MAIL'

UNCONFIRMED REPORTS WERE RECEIVED IN STOCKHOLM FROM BERLIN LAST NIGHT THAT JAPANESE TROOPS HAD ENTERED SOUTHERN INDO-CHINA AT SIX POINTS AND HAD OCCUPIED TWO AERODROMES.

Meanwhile, part confirmation was provided when Vichy an- nounced successful negotiations with Japan for the "defence" of Indo-China, granting Japan military facilities.

According to this announcement the negotiations were carried on and completed in Hanoi. A Vichy spokesman said France could not defend the colony alone.

Two treaties have been drafted recognising Japan's preponder- ant role in the Far East and bestowing on Tokyo the task of main taining peace in Indo-China. – International News Service.
