MOSCOW TAKES RAID NO. 2 WITHOUT THRILL
(By Reuter's Special Correspondent in Moscow)
THE RUSSIAN CAPITAL'S second aerial attack lacked novelty and thrill for Moscow's inhabitants although it came at the height of the great city's night life.
Earlier in the evening there was a short alarm without the appearance of enemy bombers, and while the sirens
were still whistling the second alert, A.A. guns opened fire and continued until dawn.
Russian fire-lighting methods are effective, judging from the i small number of Bres lighted de- spite the great German effort, al- though the Soviet procedure is not always orthodox.
Many Russians received burns by recklessly grasping Incendiaries in their bare hands. Already the Russians seem hardened to bombing, even WO- men and children being less hur- ried in finding shelter in the tube stations, where the current is dis- connected and smoking and rest rooms provided.
SOME BOMBS DROPPED IN SQUARES AND STREETS BUT TRAFFIC WAS NOT DIS- RUPTED AS MOSCOW'S STREETS ARE EXTREMELY WIDE AND CAN ACCOM- MODATE TRAFFIC AND BOMB

FRENCH STRIKES RUTHLESSLY SUPPRESSED
COMMENTING ON MOSCOW broadcasts in- citing French workers to strike and sabotage, the Zurich "National Zeitung" says widespread strike, movements have been attempted among textile workers and coal miners in northern France.
The strikes, however, were instantly throttled by the occupation authorities who closed the food shops and prevented the sale of food to the strikers.
