PRODUCTION DEBATE WINDS UP WITHOUT MOTION
IN THE CONTINUED debate on produc- tion in the House of Commons yesterday, Colonel J. C. Moore-Brabazon, Minister for Aircraft Production, refused to accept the allegation that there were not enough ʻplanes in the Middle East.
He painted a picture of Lord Beaver- brook's dynamic energy when accelerating 'plane production.
"I once went to interview him,” said Col. Moore- Brabazon, "and found him interviewing four people at once and quite coherently.

"He had a telephone in hand and was talking to America and at the same time was order- ing his hairdresser to come round and cut his hair in his office."
Col. Moore-Brabazon hoped that ultimately every single machine from the United States would deliver itself by air.
He declared it was easy to raid London from France.
It was more difficult to raid Berlin from London but it would not be many months be- fore raids like those on London would be child's play compared with the raids we would be able to make on Berlin, The debate concluded without a division being challenged.
Trends Of Criticism
Mr. Churchill listened to parts of the debate, which combined many criticisms with unanimous expressions of belief that pro- duction would be fully organised.
Members assumed Mr. Onur- chill would note the chlef trend- of criticism and that further action will follow.

Most serious of these, which Lizut. Brabner spoke of on Wed- Perday, concerned allegations of inefficiency and insufficiency of tanks and guns in Greece and Crete. These allegations were referred to again yesterday.
Replying to the debate, the Minister for Aircraft Production said he did not accept the imputa- tion to the lack of efficiency in tanks used in Crete and Greece, nor that there were not enough aeroplanes in the Middle East.
Regarding suggestions that there were many different types of aeroplanes of American manu- facture in Britain, Col. Moore- Brabazon reminded the House that French orders had been taken over and a good deal of al. terations had been done to make these machines suitable for the R.A.F. They were now, how- ever, being sent to operational centres and were doing great work.
"I am not saying there are not too many types and I should like to see fewer types from the point of view of manufacturing."
