POOR SUPPORT FROM SCHOOLS TO V.R.C. PLAN

The meeting called by Victoria Recreation Club for representatives of the different schools intending to par- ticipate in the forthcoming swimming gala open to boys and girls of the Colony's schools, held at the Clubhouse last evening. did not receive a very encouraging response, the only repre. sentatives attending being those from Diocesan Boys' School and St. Joseph's College.

In spite of this, however, details for the meeting were discussed, Mr. Lionel of the Roza-Pereira, Hon. Secretary Club, presiding.

It was decided that the date for the gala be August 23, with the first event on the programme timed to start at

An entrance tee of 30 cents will be charged on the day of the finals and it was decided to hold a further meet- ing on August 5 in order to discuss any matter that may crop up between now and that date.

GALA

The Government Inter-Departmental swimming gola, will be held at Euro pean this evening commencing at 9 p.m... when a very interesting pro gramme will be carried out, including the. "y" a water-polo match between and Government, and a 25 Yards Night Shirt and Candle Race, for Talpans. Following the swimming-á dance will· be held in the West Lounge, when thusia will bo provided by the Hong Kong Hotel örchestra. Admission is by ticket at $1.50 each; proceeds being in ald, of the Bomber Fund,
