THE SYRIAN GOVERNMENT has pub- lished a letter from General Catroux, leader of the Free French forces in Syria, addressed to the Syrian Prime Minister, which confirms the results reached during the discussions on the different aspects of Syria's independence. According to the war correspondent in Syria, of Free French Headquarters, the out- standing points of Catroux's letter were that a treaty will be signed on a basis of equality quaranteeing the sovereignty and indepen- dence of Syria, and defining the basis and | conditions of Franco-Syrian collaboration.
General Catroux's letter under- takes that the Syrian people will have the freedom to trame their constitution according to their own des res und to that end will call the men they think best to man- age national interests and meet the nation's desires.
