AMERICAN DEFENCE STRIKES
The number of workers striking in U.S. defence industries has been raised to 528,000-largest total out on any day this year— by yesterday's walk-out from the warplane factory Fof the North American Aviation Corporation, on the Pacific Coast, accord- ing to reports of a defence official
The official added that 2,253,- 216 man-days of work on War Department orders have been lost through strikes since January 1, when compilation of strike re- cords started.
The North American Aviation Corporation strike came simul- taneously with widespread specu- lation that: President Roosevelt might act to end such stoppages.
