(SPECIAL TO "CHINA_MAIL"}
THE ROYAL NAVY IN THE NORTH ATLAN- TIC, SEEKING VENGEANCE FOR THE SINK- ING OF H.M.S. HOOD, IS HOT IN PURSUIT AFTER THE FLEEING GERMAN SQUADRON AFTER THE 35,000-TON BATTLESHIP BIS- MARCK HAD BEEN HIT AND PARTIALLY CRIPPLED BY A BRITISH AERIAL TORPEDO.
As the war's greatest sea battle raged through the second night, the British Fleet, aided by catapulted Navy bombers flying ahead and harassing and slowing down the fleeing German ships, pressed the chase at maximum speed in a dramatic effort to get the enemy squadron close enough for a deci- sive battle.
The German fleet. led by the damaged Bismarck, eluded an immediate pitched battle with the British squadron because the weather turned favourable to the Nazis after the Hund was des- troyed, enabling the German ships to escape under a quick setting must. International News Ser-
