BLOUNT & CLEGGETT ESTABLISH RECORDS

By "'Strike"

Corp. H. Blount of Royal Corps of Signals has beaten all Ten Pin records in these Alleys.

I mentioned in an earlier article that Blount would be the player most likely to better the 278 record established by Cpl. H. Watts, also of the Signals, in February last year.

My confidence has been justi-¡ flod On April 30, while playing for the Alley Team against USS Tulsa, he missed the phenomenal score of 299. To secure thus total he made 11 strikes in seemston, and a nine with his last extra bl

It rarely happens that three match players finish up so close together

Borg was second highest scorer fur Tulsa with 827, bur Moore almost tied him, his effort being 822.

Feature of the match

was the fact that with the exception of Hirkett are Hopkins all players registered over 800 pins, although there were only three scores Of 200 and over registered throughout, Niehoff getting 232 his second game and 203 t his fifth

The record scare for Duck Pins it these Alleys has at last been beaten, Signalman A Cleggett, of Royal Corps ut Signals. BiNassing the huge of 201 pris on Wednesday The Vous second was ostablished by Mrs. Fisse Soong in March 1939, her seare being 188 Cleggett's bowling sheet compares very favourably with a very Rood Ten Pin sheet; it shows that he 1 spare un his first Rimenced with frane, a strike on his secund, a spare on each of his third and fourth frames, then four strikes in a row a 10 on his Buth frame, finishing with a seven to make a game total of 201 points.

To my knowledge this is certainly the highest score compiled in the Fur East for Duck Pins, and I am inclined to think that it must compare favour.

Pagh was not at his best at any stage and the constant pressure applied by his opponent did not help in any.

Oxlade was un- orthodox in the production of all his strokes but he was effective and met with most success when at the net. Pagh was made to do a lot of running but his greater experience and cons stency enabled him to establish

his superiority after a dour struggle in the third set, and there Aas never any doubt that he would win the Inatch thereafter, although Oxlade never gave up trying.

TSUI YAN-PUI MAKES NO MISTAKE IN FINAL SET

Brilliant All-Court Display Wai-pui Unable

By "Adrem"

NOT UNEXPECTEDLY, having regard to his brother's notorious inability to settle down quickly, Tsui Yan-pui yesterday won his first Colony singles tennis title, winning the set outstanding from their first engagement on Wednesday by 6—2. The com- plete scores therefore were 6–3, 4–6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.

Yan-pul served two aces in the Arst game, which Wai-pul failed to touch, He served another two in the third game, and with his brother consistently double-fault- ing, he quickly went to a lead of 0. Wai-pui won the next two games but that Was all, the younger man winning the set and
