HELP TO WIN WAR HUSBANDS'

WAR HUSBANDS' AS GREAT AS "ZOLA"... AND JUST AS DIFFERENT

(By A Special Correspondent)

THE HUMBLE RABBIT, “dratted pest” of the farmer, is assisting Britain to win the war. Not only is its flesh helping to eke out meat rations, but the fur, exported to the United States, is bringing back precious dollars to help pay for vital war materials.

"I'll buy every rabbit skin I can lay my hands on," said Mr. Arthur Budinger, proprietor of a Bri- tish fur exporting company, to the "Daily Mirror."

"Lak at this!" He showed me an order for a quarter of a mil- 10 skins just received from America.

Now the export trade In skins is more than thirty times аб great as it was before the war.

Skins that have been pulled off "I'll take any kind of skin "just anyhow" and hung without can get," he said,

stretching are worth from 3s. 6d. ta 5s, 6d. a dozen.

"I'll even place contracts for their pelts before the rabbits are born. But sking I must have. For there are plenty more orders com- ing from the States--and the price is going up."

Before the war U.S.A. dcpended largely on France and Belgium for rabbit skins.

Art In Skinning

England alone produces moro than sixty milion rabbit skins, worth over a million pounds, in a single year.
