A PAPER CLIP and a carnation. These are in- nocent enough things. But the first, on a Gestapo man in Norway, and the second, on his fellow in Holland, has an effect like that of a red flag on a bull.
For these are symbols. They are symbols of so deep alrevolt in these Nazi-occupied lands against Hitler's "New Order" that even Gestapo terror and mass arrests cannot quell it.
Norway is the German's main northern base for the sea and air offensive against Britain: 1,500 ar- rests have been made there in the last few weeks, but still the people's resistance, hampering Nazi plans, is growing.
