Mr. Henry Morgenthau, Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, said yesterday' he is still trying to obtain presidential approval to freeze Axis wealth in the United States and subject the withdrawal of funds to Treasury licence.
After campaigning over hatfi a year to freeze the wealth of Germany, Italy, Russia and Ja- pan, Mr. Morgenthau indicated he had received "some encourage- ment over the week-end."
