GERMANS ADOPT A DARING LINE IN MENDACITY
WITH NEWS CHANNELS from Yugoslavia almost entirely under German control there is little reliable information regarding the course of fight- ing in the mountainous areas of southern Yugo- slavia, and the Nazis' wireless services are being employed almost continuously for propaganda pur-
poses.
Currency is given to rumours and reports de- signed to sap the fighting spirit of the Yugoslavs and to convince the world that resistance has been crushed.
These reports are of particular interest when considered in rela- tion to the recent facties adopted in the hope of alienating the loyal- ty of the Greeks.
The latter have been continu- Rusly told in recent broadcasts that they are being betrayed by the British, who have been accus- ed of atrocities against the Greeks, Corticularly against those whom the British assisted to escape from Salonika, and they are urged to help the Germans to trap the Bri-
sh in Greeve.
One such broadcast said "Cur
eft the British retreat Take away hips on which they intend to "mbark."
Daring Line In Mendacity
In yesterday's Nazi broadcasts EVON BRre daring line in men- Gacity was followed. After as- erting as usual that resistance was in vain Deutschlandsender and other stations put out utterly baseless reports that transports were assembled in Piraeus for the
ithdrawal of the British.
