Two Outstanding Local Cricket Achievements

Fenton Takes All Ten Engineer Wickets

Anderson Reaches His 1,000 Runs

By "Adrem”

THE FRIENDLY ALL-DAY CRICKET MATCH AT SOOKUNPOO BETWEEN K.C.C. AND R.E., WHICH THE FORMER WON BY 131 RUNS YES- TERDAY WAS NOTABLE FOR TWO FINE FEATS. D. J. N. Anderson, the K.C.C. opening batsman, completed his 1,000 runs for the season after he had and scored 37 he went on to make 82 not out R. J. Fenton performed the extremely rare feat of taking all 10 Engineer wickets.

Kowloon batted first on a per¦ fect matting wicket. The onthelif! was slow and the ball had to be hit hard before it wou'd reach the boundary.

Tropp and Denyer bowled stead - ily and three wicket, fell an 30 minutes for only 20 runs.

Anderson was then joined by Mackay and this partnership added 133 runs. Mackay then boing caught and bowled by Denyer for 67 soon after lunch. I Denyer struck an inspired patch. after lunch and the balls with which he bowled Gray and Perry were very good ones. Anderson. however, was in no trouble when the inmnes closed K.CC were two short he was still un defeated

The earlier R.E, batsmen shaped well, Rateliffe and Shaw looking particularly confident and Tropp defending stoutly thoughout, but Fenton, turning the ball bofl ways and keeping a fairly accurate length, took wickets regularly.

On three occasions іп the course of this innings he took two wickels with successive balls but he was unable to com. plete the "hattrick."

It is understood that Fenton will be presented with the ball, suit- ably mounted and inscribed, with which he accomplished his feat yesterday.
