"We found her covered In wreckage and dust, with only her head and shoulders above it. She would not let us touch her til she knew the children were safe, though she must have been in great pain."
Richard Lucas, a warden who was near the chapel, was blown into the air. "I was just lifted as though by an invisible hand,”. he said, "and don't remember. anything else til found--my- self lying inside the next room.”
The chapel is attached to a staff. building between the main block of the orphanage and the nursery, and the bomb did: no damage to either.
