The forthcoming visit of Sir Edward Peacock to America to examine thei possibilities of invest- ments such as businesses in the United States, was announced in a Treasury statement issued in Lon- dun yesterday.
The statement Says! "In the light of material already shipped and contemplated by the United States it may now be freely pu- blished that His Majesty's Gov- ernment have realised and dispos- ed of a very great proportion of their gold holdings and are steadi- ly selling American securities owned by their nationals at every opportunity
"A more difficult problem is presented by Investments such ав businesacs in the United States and United States com. panica controlled by companies in this country whose shares
are not quoted on the Stock Ex- change.
"His Majesty's Government are resolved to make the best possible use of these investments and they have decided to ask Sir Edward Peacock, who has great exper- lence in such matters, to go to the United States and examine the possibilities on the spot. He will reach America very shortly." Reuter.
