Lord Halifax Crosses Atlantic On Giant Warship

THE FIRST INDICATION that the giant British battleship H.M.S. King George V, 35,000 tons, had been put into commission was the announcement in London yesterday afternoon that she had arrived in American waters with Lord Halifax, our new Ambassa- dor to the United States, and Lady Halifax on board,

A Baltimore, Maryland, message soid that the ship had been sighted in Chesapeake Bay and was expected to drop anchor at An- napolis in a few hours, when Lord and Lady Halifax would come ashore and leave for Washington.

Details of Lord Halifax's parture from Britain were kept; secret, but it was known that the Prime Minister and Mrs. Churchill travelled with them "to a northern base" and saw them off.
