MILITARY REGIME THREAT AGAINST THE CZECHS Disobeys

THE SPIRIT OF CZECH independence has exasperated the temper of Baron von Neurath, Nazi "Protector of Bohemia and Moravia," while the latest reports from Nor- way show that the Norwegians are also mak- ing things awkward for their temporary over- lords.

Reliable reports reaching London say that von Neurath has decided that it is impossible to trust a single Czech.

He summoned German officers! and civil servants to his residence in Praue and told them that he would not hesitate to set 10 military dictatorship if necessary, Teenuse the spirit of Czech resis- tance must be broken."

He first showed signs of his lemper by a signed article which he had published in all Czech

An ack-ack gunner who disobeyed orders and was later summoned before a Court of Enquiry has been | given the Military Medal.

Gunner Bennett was in charge of an anti-aircraft gun when an within easy enemy 'plane flew

range.

Regulations forbade him to open fire unless he received such an or- der from a superior officer.

But the temptation was just a little too great for Bennett, who told his comrades he could not let

the chance go by.

He opened fire, and the rald. ed WAS brought crashing down:

A. Court of Enquiry was called to consider what punishment should be inflicted.

When the full facts were - laid before the G.O.C., however, he de- cided that there should be no punishment and that Gunner Bennett should be awarded the M.M.!-Reuter.
